Its appeal is simple: a large global IP pool, a polished dashboard, and documentation that makes onboarding fast. Nodetonet takes a different direction: self-hosted mobile proxies running on real Android phones you control, priced on prepaid credit with no per-GB meter and no monthly subscription. What each product actually is
Before comparing features, it helps to understand the architecture of each service.
Smartproxy / Decodo
Smartproxy provides access to a pooled network of residential IPs sourced from real home connections around the world. You get an endpoint and credentials; the platform selects an exit IP from its pool on each request (or for a sticky window). You pay per gigabyte of traffic used. The service also includes some datacenter proxy options and a browser scraping API. It is a managed, metered product — no hardware on your end.
Nodetonet
Nodetonet is a self-hosted mobile proxy platform. You pair real Android phones with the Nodetonet agent app; each phone becomes a mobile proxy backed by a live 4G or 5G SIM. Your panel controls every device in the fleet — you decide the routing, the geo-targeting, the session mode, the per-client quotas, and the access rules. Traffic is served over HTTP/HTTPS and SOCKS5. Beyond proxies, the same panel manages a VPN, HTTP tunnels, and white-label reseller tooling — a full connectivity stack, not just a proxy endpoint.
Mobile vs residential IPs — why it matters for blocking
Residential IPs come from home broadband connections. They are trusted more than datacenter IPs because they belong to real people. But residential pools are well-known to anti-bot vendors, and the larger a pool gets, the more of its IP ranges end up in blocklists from previous abuse by other customers.
Mobile IPs sit one trust tier higher for a structural reason: carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT). Mobile networks place thousands of paying subscribers behind each public IP address because IPv4 space is scarce. That means banning a mobile IP risks disrupting thousands of legitimate customers. Anti-bot vendors know this, so they treat carrier IP ranges far more carefully than residential ranges. The result is fewer CAPTCHAs, fewer silent 403s, and a cleaner path through tough targets like e-commerce checkout pages or social platforms that are aggressive about non-browser traffic.

Protocols and session modes
Both services cover the basics, but the depth differs:
- HTTP/HTTPS — supported on both. Works in any browser, scraper or HTTP library.

- Sticky sessions — on Nodetonet, append
-session-XXXXto your proxy username; the same exit IP is held for the session TTL. No endpoint change needed. Geo-targeting
Smartproxy lets you target by country and, in some plans, by city or carrier through its endpoint or API parameters. Nodetonet expresses all targeting through username modifiers on the same endpoint — country, city, and carrier tags in the proxy username itself. That means your tools and scripts never change the host or port; you just update the username. You can request a Turkcell, Vodafone or Türk Telekom exit, pin to İstanbul, or leave it open for the fleet to pick the best available device. Full syntax is on the geo-targeting page.
Per-client controls and access management
Smartproxy offers credential-based access and bandwidth quotas at the account level. Nodetonet adds a deeper per-client control layer that lets you isolate traffic between different end users or projects:
- Individual username/password pairs per client with per-customer authentication

- Per-client thread (connection) limits

Pricing model
Smartproxy charges on a per-gigabyte or tiered subscription basis. The exact rate depends on the plan tier and traffic volume. Every byte of traffic you use is counted and billed. That model is fine for light, occasional jobs where the total gigabytes are small and predictable.
Nodetonet is prepaid and flat. You top up credit; proxies and bandwidth are billed from that credit pool. Idle proxies cost nothing — you pay for actual usage, not reserved capacity. For steady or high-volume workloads, where a metered plan would rack up per-GB charges every day, the prepaid flat model is typically more cost-effective. The difference compounds quickly at scale: with a metered plan your bill grows linearly with every gigabyte; with Nodetonet's model it is bounded by the capacity of the fleet you choose to run.

When to pick which
