How a mobile proxy works
Three things happen on every request:
- Your tool (scraper, browser, bot, app) connects to the proxy endpoint — a host and port, usually with a username and password.
- The proxy forwards your request out through a paired mobile device sitting on a real SIM and a real carrier network.
- The carrier assigns that device a public IP through carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT), and your request reaches the target from that mobile IP.
CGNAT is the part that matters. Mobile networks don't hand every phone a unique public address — there aren't enough IPv4 addresses to go around. Instead they place thousands of real subscribers behind each public IP. So the address you exit from is, at that very moment, shared with a crowd of genuine people checking Instagram, streaming video and sending messages. To a website, you are simply one more of them.

- Rotating when you should be sticky. Rotating an IP mid-login looks like account takeover. Pin a session for anything stateful.
- Hammering one IP. Even a mobile IP has limits — spread heavy crawls across a pool with token groups.
