TL;DR — For 1-8 always-on tunnels, Nodetonet costs less than LocalXpose and adds mobile carrier IPs LocalXpose cannot provide. Above 8 tunnels or if you need UDP today, LocalXpose's flat-rate model wins.
LocalXpose (loclx) is arguably the most feature-complete ngrok-shaped alternative on the market. It has full UDP support, custom domains on every paid plan, a mature CLI, a webhook inspector, a file server, and a settled $8/month price point. If you wanted "ngrok but with all the extras switched on by default", LocalXpose has been the answer for a few years.
Nodetonet approaches the same problem from a completely different angle. Instead of a subscription-based tunneling platform, we offer per-tunnel prepaid billing, real mobile proxy exit IPs through paired Android phones, rotating proxy pools, and a unified panel that covers HTTP tunnels, VPN, and SOCKS5 under one account. We don't (yet) have UDP, and LocalXpose's webhook inspector is more polished than our REST-only logs. Here is the full breakdown.
1. Pricing — flat $8 vs $1 per active tunnel
LocalXpose's Pro plan is $8/month (billed yearly, the per-month rate drops somewhat). It includes unlimited tunnels per account, custom domains, UDP, and a webhook inspector. Pricing is per-account, flat, and monthly.
Nodetonet uses prepaid credit — there is no subscription. Each active tunnel costs roughly $1/month. Tunnels you stop or delete cost nothing. This model means a project that runs for two weeks and then idles does not continue draining your balance.

3. The unique angle — mobile proxy as a tunneling primitive
LocalXpose is excellent at "expose a local service to the internet via a tunnel." Nodetonet does that too. The thing LocalXpose cannot do — and is not architecturally built to do — is treat real mobile carrier IPs as part of the same primitive.
On Nodetonet you pair an Android phone running the Nodetonet agent app. The phone becomes a node in your tunnel topology. Outbound requests from your tunnel exit through that phone's SIM. Toggle airplane mode programmatically, the carrier hands out a new IP, your exit changes. Add a second phone, requests rotate between them via token group round-robin. Add a sticky modifier (-session-XXXX) and a whole login or checkout flow stays pinned to one sticky session. Add a carrier modifier and your traffic exits via Turkcell, Vodafone or Turk Telekom at will.
That is a fundamentally different product category. LocalXpose is a tunneling service. Nodetonet is a tunneling service plus a mobile proxy provider plus a rotating proxy platform — all billed under the same prepaid model. For teams that only need tunneling, the extra surface is simply there when they need it. For teams doing ad-verification, scraping, or geo-targeted testing, it is the whole point.

4. Protocol depth — HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5
LocalXpose focuses on HTTP/TCP/UDP tunnels. Nodetonet additionally provides SOCKS5 and HTTP/HTTPS proxies from the same device fleet, with username/password authentication, per-client thread limits, data quotas, and domain allow/deny lists. A scraping pipeline can use the HTTP proxy endpoint; a game client or VoIP app can use SOCKS5 — both exit through the same paired Android phone.
If you need further geo diversity, upstream residential forwarding lets you chain an external provider (Smartproxy, Bright Data, IPRoyal) through Nodetonet's panel, so you get one management interface for all your proxy types.
5. Where LocalXpose still wins
- UDP today. LocalXpose has had full UDP tunnel support for years. Nodetonet's UDP is on the roadmap. If you tunnel game servers, custom VoIP, WireGuard exits or any UDP protocol, LocalXpose is the right pick right now.
- TLS pass-through. LocalXpose can forward raw TLS without terminating at the edge. Nodetonet terminates TLS at the edge server and re-encrypts toward your origin.
- Webhook inspector. The request-replay UI in LocalXpose is mature. Nodetonet exposes request logs via REST (target hosts, status codes, timestamps, byte counts, 30-day window) but has no graphical replay interface yet.
- File server / static hosting. Built-in static file serving is not on Nodetonet's roadmap; LocalXpose has it today.
- Account-flat pricing above 8 tunnels. If you run 10+ always-on tunnels, LocalXpose's $8 flat beats 10 x $1 on Nodetonet.
- Established track record. LocalXpose is a mature product with an established community and plenty of third-party tutorials and integrations.
6. When to pick Nodetonet
- You run 8 or fewer tunnels at any one time — per-tunnel pricing is cheaper.
- Your tunnels are sporadic or project-based — idle-free billing eliminates wasted spend.
- You need real mobile carrier IPs for scraping, ad verification, or device testing.
- You want rotating proxy pools across multiple paired Android devices.
- You need SOCKS5 in addition to HTTP tunnels from the same infrastructure.
- You want per-client controls: quota, expiry, thread limits, IP whitelists, domain restrictions.
- You want to chain upstream residential providers (Smartproxy, Bright Data, IPRoyal).
- You are building a reseller or white-label proxy business via WISECP.
- You want a Turkish-language UI and Turkish support team.
7. When to stick with LocalXpose
- You need UDP, TLS pass-through, or the graphical webhook inspector today — not on a roadmap.
- You run more than 8-10 always-on tunnels and flat-rate pricing fits your budget model.
- You need the built-in static file server feature.
- Your workflow already has deep CLI aliases and config files locked to the
loclxcommand. - Procurement requires a multi-year vendor with external reviews and case studies.
8. Migration path from LocalXpose to Nodetonet
- Sign up at nodetonet.com/auth/register and add a small amount of prepaid credit — enough to create and verify a few tunnels.
- Download the Nodetonet agent and pair it on the same machine running
loclx— they don't conflict, so you can run both in parallel during the transition. - For each LocalXpose HTTP/TCP tunnel, create a corresponding Nodetonet tunnel via the panel or the REST API (
POST /api/v1/proxies) pointing at the same upstream target. - If you use a custom domain, add a CNAME record pointing at
cname.nodetonet.com. A Let's Encrypt certificate is issued automatically in around 30 seconds. Use the proxy checker to confirm the exit IP is what you expect.
- Once confident, cancel LocalXpose before its next billing date and stop the
loclxagent.
If any of your existing tunnels are UDP-based, leave those on LocalXpose for now. Migrate HTTP and TCP tunnels first, then revisit UDP once Nodetonet ships it. Hybrid setups with both agents on the same machine are fully supported — there is no exclusivity requirement.
